I have stayed at the Nana Hotel many times and slept in almost every catagory of room from a simple Delux to the grandest Suite (not particularly grand looking).
Nana Hotel is conveniently situated on Soi 4 Sukhumvit, about 25 meters down on the right. More conveniently it is slap bang opposite the world famous Nana Plaza Entertainment complex (NEP) the largest Red Light area in Bangkok.
Nana Hotel is a fairly large building with several hundred rooms, a Pool, a large restaurant, travel desk, Hotel bar, Nightclub and a small shopping hall all inside. They also provide many services including laundry, 24 hour room service (food) and expensive Limo service which at the time i was last there looked like an old style Volvo 740 series i think!

Nana Hotel front desk staff seem to have been there for an age, many look as though they have been, saying this they are always efficient, on the ball and i have never felt a reason to complain.

The hotel rooms are tired looking, but to redecorate the hotel isn't really the Thai way, many hotels simply allow their establishments to run down, sometimes quite badly before any redecorating is done.
But, usually you'll find their rooms clean, well turned down beds - so big that if 2 of you are in bed you may feel like you're in different postcodes/ zip codes!
The rooms are quite basic, though do provide usual toiletries like soap, shampoo, cotton buds etc. The room is equipped with a fridge with 2 bottles of FREE mineral water, plus a TV with cable channels - 2 english speaking movie channels, Discovery and CNN, every other channel is usually in Thai. Many rooms also have an electronic safe to store your valuables.
Rooms will cost from 1,650 baht (basic) up to 3,500 Baht (suite) per night.
Nana Hotel caters for families, couples and singles, however, owing to it's excellent location in the centre of the red light area, single guys and groups of friends from around the world use the hotel.
The room service and laundry is pretty good, i have had washing done here many many times and only had 1 minor incident, they also offer a reasonably priced pressing service which is so handy for getting rid of travel creases in your shirts.
Getting their from the airport is very easy, first option is by taxi, make sure you get an official airport taxi, cost approx 325 baht including 2 tollway charges and the mandatory 50 baht airport tax.
You can also get the airport bus for about 100 baht which stops just near the entrance to Soi 4.
An announcement not long ago suggested that the BTS Skytrain service will commence in August 2009 into Bangkok city centre. This is truly wonderful news, the Skytrain is a clean, fast, air conditioned reasonably priced form of transport for getting around the city. The fact that service will run to and from Suvarnabhumi International Airport is great news.
Nearest Skytrain station is NANA about 3 minutes walk away.

In the vicinity of Nana Hotel you are close to an array of shopping delights of all kinds from the Sukhumvit stores selling everything to Shopping Mall Fashion houses, to Electronic/ Gadget Malls such as Pantip shopping plaza.
Also on your doorstep are countless restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, night clubs, internet cafes, 7-11's, Tailors, jellewers, dental practices and of course t - Nana Complex (NEP) just opposite.

Either side of the entrance to NEP are bars/ pubs where you find big American Pool tables, loud music and plenty of entertainment.
Just outside the complex are several hot food stalls selling an array of Thailands famous after hours hot snacks, from chicken served with their beloved Nam prik hot sauce to deep fried bugs! It's an eye opener, give it a try.

In terms of hotel location convenience (opp. NEP) and the fact that it's on a low Soi number, half decent service, 24 hr restaurant, clean rooms, reasonably priced rooms etc, ease of internet booking, tolerant of bring back guests, i'm scoring this hotel 3 stars.

Overall Rating: 3
