From the friendly waiting staff and owner, who'll get to know you pretty well if you drop in there more than a couple of times, to the generous portions of excellent western food at a keen price, to the big-screen sports on TV. If, like me, you find much of the Bangkok bar-scene sleazy and unpleasant, you'll be releived to know that this isn't a bar-girl/freelancer hang out. It's extremely family friendly, has a generous area for the smokers and, last time I was there, Tiger at 99 baht a pint. Is there a better deal anywhere in town?<ul><li><label>Overall Rating</label>: 5   <img STYLE="border:none" SRC="http://www.durianseed.com/wp-content/images/stars50disp.gif"></li> </ul> Quite simply the best bar in town, bar none. While the decor is not modern, the place has character. I find the food to be a cut above the general pub fare and the prices are very good given the quality and size of the portions. The staff are generally very attentive. A great place for atmosphere during the live sports even though it does get crowded. Was just before the flight home on a Sunday morning, I gave up after two mouthfuls. Didn’t fancy 14hours on the plane with a semi-cooked breakfast inside of me. Did complain but still had to pay for thing, was with a girlfriend so didn’t want to create a scene. The chef did scuttle out of the kitchen a while later-looking at him he appeared to a far worse hangover than even I had at the time!!(Maybe he was just filling in on a Sunday?). Shame because as bar this place is pretty decent (some of the staff can be a touch miserable at times-no Land of the Smiles here). Good place to watch sport, have seen bands in here of an evening that have been excellent. Very handy location for those of you living in the Sukhumvit district located on Soi 8. It's a New Zealand/Australian pub/bar, frequented by expats and farang travellers and features plenty of widescreen plasmas screening the rugby, cricket and sports etc. Food is generally good, tasty and affordable. Staff are cool and friendly. Free WIFI available too. The owner/s are very friendly, and have recently extended out the rear of the pub tastefully - reminds me of the pubs I frequent back home in Aus.
