Have stayed here 3 times, each for fairly long stays, and love the place. Staff is extremely attentive without being annoying (save the 3X per day bed turndowns). Rooms are gorgeous with distinctly Thai materials and colors in decoration. You won't have any problem remembering what city you're staying in when you wake up. I only have two problems. Every now and then they have a trouble with the toughest, meanest, hungriest mosquitos I have ever encountered. That's the price one pays for the lotus ponds everywhere I guess. Second, for the price you pay they do tend to nickel and dime you on things like wi-fi, the minibar, and so on. So if you're going to stay here for more than a night or two take the time to hit the 7-11 to have a bottle and snacks in your room and learn how to do tethered networking on the laptop. The breakfast (which I normally sleep through, seeing as I'm on vacation) is the best I've ever seen anywhere. It's worth waking up for. All in all, a top five favorite hotel of mine on planet earth. Wish I could spend a week there every month.

Celadon is an excellent, and appropriately expensive, restaurant in the Sukhothai hotel. The boilerplate claims they serve 'traditional' Thai food but I'd say that's stretching things rather a lot. It's not quite fusion but the preparations and presentations are decidedly 21st century. It's all superb as well. Great lighting, excellent wine list, service that is almost too attentive, and a very Michelin 3 star feel in general. I'd recommend it as a place to have a business dinner on the expense account, take a date someplace really posh, or just splurge on a really good meal. As an aside, also in the same hotel is the Zuk bar, my personal fave place to lounge about early in the evening. In addition to great staff and a good lounge DJ there is excellent people watching with more than occasional sightings of industry big shots, middling politicians, and the occasional TV presenter or actress.
