Ruam Rudi is a great street to explore. Start at the top near Phloen Chit and walk until you find the type of place you want. So many cuisines are represented.
Last night I hit this place. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is underneath a roof that has running water flowing over it. Nice touch.
The service at this place is excellent but bummed they have a service charge. However I must say that the service was not lacking in any details.
The menu has some international fair, Thai food and 2 pages of curries. I went for the curries.
We had one appetizer that was cheese and mushroom pizzas just to be different. Very tasty.
Then we had the beef masaman curry and the red curry duck. Also the butter gourd with eggs for a vegetable dish. They also give brown and white rice with what appears to be unlimited refills. We also had a carafe of white wine and shared a cheesecake for dessert.
Everything was very tasty and the setting makes you want to take your time and hang out.
Total bill for 2 including the service was like 2k. Not cheap but we were stuffed and every dish was awesome.

If you happen to be in the area and looking for some place where the locals eat - this is it. Small little non aircon joint with the basic Thai food. But tasty, cheap and good service. That is what these places are about. Not much else.

I first went to the Good View in Chiang Mai which is one of my favorite joints to hang out in. Only recently have I been to the one on Bangkok. Same deal really - just a different setting. This venue is much bigger and sits next to the river. Same menu I think, live bands, beer, awesome desserts and so on.
Nothing in and of itself is utterly fantastic but the whole package is decent and worth checking out. Fun to take newbies to Thailand here since it feels like it would be a place they might not find on their own.
Fun place with a large group to pass the evening away.

Stopped in here a few times to grab a bite to eat before hitting forte et all.
The food is pretty good but u need to know a little Thai to sort it out or risk trying something new.
The service is lacking but the place is pretty cheap. I guess it is more live music pub / snack joint but that is the way a lot of Thai joints are.
The building is way cool though and is quite old with lots of antiques laying around. Fun to check out.
If in the area - it is worth checking.

Nothing amazing but some solid Thai food and some interesting menu items. The portions were okay but with the extra charge for rice and a service charge I can't say I will go rushing back. Maybe if the food was off the charts I would be heading back but can't say that I will. The restaurant also seems to be lacking in the aircon department as well.

The food here is excellent! It is a nice open air setting. Fans keep you cool but on a hot night it may be a little uncomfortable. They have a huge projection TV as well which makes it a nice place to view the sport.
Although the name has restaurant in it this place is more of a bar/restaurant where you can hang for hours.
I went on a special "Models Fashion Night" which happens every few months. You have to make reservations a week in advance, purchasing a bottle to hold it. All tables were full for the event. They even charged us 200 baht for an extra chair which was weird since the chair itself probably cost less than that.
The show itself was interesting to see one time. They make you get there at 7:30 or so and don't start the show until 10:15 or so. There are 5 girls that come out one at a time in different outfits and they walk amongst the tables and you can take a picture with them and touch them a little bit. The girls were very attractive but certainly not "Models" caliber.
At the end, after an hour or so of boring tease the five of them came out wearing stars only and danced together for five minutes while everyone took pics. After that they paraded five guys out in speedos which almost made me hurl.
Overall, the model shows are fun to see once but produced to keep you there for five hours drinking and are just a big tease. The food and overall value for booze though are top notch and make it worth another visit for sure. This is not a men's only place by any means. It was a mixed crowd and the event was not sleazy at all. Good night out with friends can easily be had here.

I always enjoy dining at C&C and bring visitors when they are in town. The place has character and has a very positive vibe given what they are doing with awareness around STD's.
The decor is very green and partially open air and the food is average but some dishes are tasty. They also give away free condoms and the decor is very liberal with condoms and awareness material all over the place.
Probably not suitable for children yet it's a friendly environment and I have seen families in here. Mostly farang clientele during my visits.

I appreciate the good cause, but as far as the food. Well, it sucks which is why you will never see any Thai people here (a good indication if a restaurant has good Thai food). I ordered the grapow gai and I didn't even recognize it when it came, I had to ask the waitress if it was in fact grapow gai.

Cabbages and Condoms was set up to help spread awarness about HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. The restauant is mainly open air but is very pleasing to the eye and the menu is Thai. The food is not bad and not incredible just very passable. A place that must be visited once in my opinion and which uses its profits for a good cause

OKay the place looks cool and it is a nice place to hang out but for some reason the service is never that great and I have always waited a long time for the food.
So rather than go for a meal here sometimes I take people here to chill out, have a drink and a few snacks. Works okay - then no one feels like they are waiting forever for their food.
The house is cool and full of old knick knacks so tourists like to check the place out.
