dreampipe:
Your usual large table style Thai club. Think of it as a downmarket Santika. The prices are reasonable, service was good but super loud. The late night band is seriously good at harder Thai rock and put on quite a show. The DJ mixes are okay but nothing special.
They have name acts like the Clash and Bodyslam from time to time. The Coyote and bikini shows really pack them in.

Another one of the big supersize joints that has live bands, shows, food and drinks. We ate outside and enjoyed relaxing to the quiet tv sounds on the big balcony. Inside a band was playing your mix of typical Thai songs intermixed with sessions of a DJ pumping typical Thai DJ mixes.
From the outside the place looks very cool but is pretty standard on the inside. They have a pretty big mix of food and the prices were reasonable.
Supposedly they have name acts from time to time.

Sports bar atmosphere.Good variety of food.Full Western or Thai menu available and good selection of beer.Service is ok,but sometimes slow,so not for those in a hurry.Great place to meet.Loud and rowdy during football games...Spirited, but not out of control. Many pool tables and freelancers for a challenge. The place is very big,so those desiring a quieter dinner, the back room is where my wife and guests usually congregate. When by myself,I sit up front for the full experience.Beer seems a little expensive and food an ok value.

Went there 2 times. Thai live band Club. Very crowded on week-end... But on monday night is also full !!! Crazy. Nice place, nothing special about the deco, dark and black, bar on your left when you enter, bar on our right also, some sits at the end of the club and a big mid-place with stand-up tables. In front of the stage.
Customers are 80% Thais. Many youngs but not only teenagers. Lot of smart and dressy girls, us usual. The band is great, thai pop and rock, ONLY HITS... And it really rocks. Everybody dancing around tables. Everybody knowing the songs by heart.. Quiet impressive. I think the "vibe" is really great.
I love the CURVE and when leaving check the crowd on ekkamai... The traffic jam at 2am is a must-see...

Went there last saturday. Around 22h00. Surprinsigly not crowded, yet... Very nice building and deco look like church is really excellent. Large place, very open, with some first floor balcony for those wo prefer to have a look form upper to the crowd... Band is great, I loved them. Many thais songs and mix with rock classics... but I did'nt enjoy the R'NB moments without the band. Too long. And sorry the sound level is terribly high.. nearly to hurt...
And after 11.00 the crowd was 70% farangs. A bit to much to me. And has some impact on the "vibe", nobody is dancing, seems not be the really big fun for some peoples... ???
But nice place, nice moment, but CURVE is better on my mind.
Chopsticks:
A Thai friend of mine invited me to tag along with a group of his friends going to Jet Club recently. When we rolled up to the entrance the first thing I noticed about the place was the number of top-end luxury sports cars in the parking lot. Beemers, Ferrari's etc.
We were over on the house music side of the complex, but I did wander over to check out the hip hop side. It was rammed with people. Heaving. Westerners were few and far between. Over on the techno side, we were offered two locations to occupy. The first option was upstairs directly in the path of the arctic air-con blower. So we opted for location #2, on the stairway landing in-between the floors. And we only got these choices cause our group had a few connections.
Great music but no real dance floor. Kind of a newer version of your standard Thai club. Order a bottle and stand around your table drinking. Very little mixing and co-mingling going on except on trips to the restroom. Speaking Thai is almost a prerequisite....

This has now moved to a massive building on Ekka mai across from Curve which is next to the Big C. Place to be see and been seen at the moment. Good luck getting a table or evening reserving one unless you know people.
Worth a shot though for the massive amount of eye candy.
Chopsticks:
Somewhat of an institution in the Thong Lo neighborhood. A good place to meet during the week after work for a drink or two, Witch's Tavern gets especially busy on Wednesday (Ladies) night.
The comparatively high priced drinks and food don't deter the English teacher crowd but do seem to attract the white collar crowd instead. When the live band gets going with their standard (never changing) roster of cover songs, you might want to think about ear-plugs as they crank the volume up. Way up.
Decent live jazz on Sundays if I recall correctly.
Try the pizza if you're hungry -- good stuff!
Young Penfold:
Decor is super-tacky and garish which hurts your eyes.
I found the seats uncomfortable aswell, and the place is really cramped.
Wont be returning

Really like this pub.
I've said before that I dont like English pubs in England, let alone Bangkok but this is alright for a change of scene.
Didnt eat there, but the table next to me ordered some grub and it smelt great with massive portions. Cant remember wether the drinks were reasonably priced because I got bladdered on B52s, but the place was jumping on a Friday night with a great vibe.
