Review: One of my preferred locations to enjoy a flick. I appreciate the cafe lounge area opposite the ticket counters. A great place to meet and have a cuppa before the movie. Also, because of the fact that Emporium is dwarfed, literally, by Paragon and Central, it is sometimes easier to get a decent last minute seat here. And the comfort factor here is on par with the rest of the best. Plus, the toilets aren't a half marathon away, just in case you enjoyed too much coffee prior.

    Movie: The Incredible Hulk

What began as a sequel has become a complete do-over for our not-so-jolly green giant. This time around, Bruce Banner is on the run from General Thunderbolt Ross as he desperately searches for an antidote to the gamma radiation that has given new meaning to "anger issues." As if it's not bad enough that his ultra-ripped bod is designated official military property, a new nemesis emerges! When Emil Blonsky toys with the power that has made Banner into the Hulk, it transforms him into a true abomination.

Movie: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Nineteen years have passed since Indy went gallivanting off to Venice to look for his missing father (and unwittingly hooked up with Dad's Nazi ex in the process). Spielberg and the gang are insanely tight-lipped about the details of this new adventure, but we do know that Indy will be facing off with Agent Irina Spalko, an icy Communatrix who competes with him to acquire a mysterious (and possibly alien-related) artifact. Indy will also have a new sidekick in the form of Mutt, a James Dean-style rebel.

    Movie: The Happening

Elliot Moore is an underappreciated schoolteacher whose marriage is on the rocks. But nothing helps you forget your worries like a sudden global apocalypse! When people begin dying en masse, rumors fly about terrorist attacks or botched government experiments, but soon it becomes obvious that even the government couldn't botch things this badly. Confused and terrified, with their links to the rest of the world rapidly vanishing, Elliot and his family must go on the run in what is fast becoming a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Not as comfy as the more posh cinemas in Paragon, Central, etc. Great mix of movie-goers here though. And ticket prices are noticeably cheaper than at the more up-market cinemas.

Top notch cinema in terms of comfort and picture/sound quality. I watched Beowulf in 3-D here, the only place in town with the capability to screen digital 3-D. I'll reserve my comments about the movie itself but the special effects rocked! Can be a bit taxing to get to the actual theater itself if you're in a hurry just due to the labyrinthine nature of Central World itself

The quality of the services and amenities offered here are great. Extremely comfortable seating with great sound system quality. What I do notice about this location more than any other is that it seems the majority of the movie-goers (read hi-so) seem not to have a problem with taking mobile phone calls, even multiple phone calls, during the midst of the movie. At least for me this is the height of rude and disrespectful behaviour. Also, especially in the early screening days of any film, the best seats sell out quick!

Good because this is one of the few cinemas in town that screens the lesser known films that garner great acclaim but still remain on the sideline in the shadows of Hollywood films. Not good because this is the one theater so far in BKK where I have had complaints about the comfort of the seating and the spacing of the rows. If you're even just average height (for Westerners) you might find yourself squirming and fidgeting to try and get comfortable.

While I do enjoy a few hours strolling the corridors of MBK people watching and soaking in the barely contained chaos of the place, I can't say that I enjoy the movie viewing experience nearly as much. I remember that the theaters themselves had an almost cramped feeling due to the smaller size plus that fact that there weren't all that many empty seats. Throw in the fact that as with many Thai venues, the audio levels bordered on deafening, and the sound system is nowhere near as nice as those in the newer cinemas.

One of the newest cinemas in the heart of the city, the theaters here are about as comfy as you could want. I've never been here when they new releases are as packed at some of the more popular cinemas, so if you don't like crowds, this one might be a good option for you. I remember getting a bit turned around trying to figure out where to buy the tickets, with the entrance to the actual complex on one level and the ticket counter one or two floors down.

I've found that this is one of the few places in the city that screens indie and less than mainstream Hollywood flicks. Kudos. The cinemas themselves aren't as comfy as those in Paragon or Central World, but hey, I've never had any comfort issues here. The gripe that I do have is that the showtimes posted on the BKK area cinema internet resource www.movieseer.com are often slightly wrong or just plain wrong. One time I showed up to catch the day's last screening of a film only to find out that House RCA had not planned on showing it. Irritated to say the least. They also have an in-house cafe so you can chill out with your caffeinated beverage of choice and peruse some of the hoards of older reading material while waiting for you flick of choice.

I really wanted to love this place. New York pizza. Brings back memories. But the fare served up here doesn't bring the memories back. They sell by the slice and they stay open late. That's it for me.
